Well, it's that time of year and once again the clocks have changed and we need to let you know how the shuffling of the hour hand affects league racing at OZNZ Sim Racing.

Daylight Savings is upon us and as of today, both New Zealand and the parts of Australia that observe Daylight Savings have pushed the forward an hour.

For OZNZ League Racing, the race times are affected as below.

NZ, SA, NSW, VIS, TAS: No change to race times. Official practice launches at 6pm on Sunday night with Qualification and racing beginning at approx 7pm.

WA, NT, QLD: Racing begins 1 hour EARLIER! Official practice launches at 5pm, with Qualification and racing beginning at approx 6pm.

A quick OZNZ update:

Things are a bit behind at OZNZ at the moment. I (akaPillarz) have been busy and unwell all at once and unfortunately, OZNZ had to slide down the priority list a little.

The Admin team kept the wheels turning, finishing out the RS.01 Challenge with some great results for our members with Vander Hum taking out the top step and Erik close on his heels taking out second place for the series.

Amazing results guys!

On the subject of amazing results, 2DoGs, CarboOZ, Gemonic and Llamafett took on the iRacing Petit LeMans on Saturday and managed to survive the blind, winding corners of Road Atlanta for 10 hours to bring their Ferrari 488 GTE home 2nd in Class for their split, which is an amazing achievement!

OZNZ is on a short hiatus for the next couple of weeks. With the NRL Grand Final on tonight and the Bathurst 1000 on next Sunday, we figured trying to run official series for the few that would not be to busy or drunk to race was a bit of a waste, so we will return on Sunday the 20th of October for Round 1 of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge.

Speaking of which, registration for our Penultimate series of 2019, the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge has now opened. The full series info and sign up can be found on the OZNZ Sim Racing page of the website.

In the coming week, we will reveal the details of our final series for 2019 and trust us, we are aiming to go out with a bang!

As always, thank you to everyone for your continued support of OZNZ. This community is one I am always proud to be a part of.

Amendment:

Apologies. Due to not paying attention to the Calendar properly, we wrote below that we start the season with an endurance round at Paul Ricard which is incorrect.

This Wednesday we will be racing a GT Sprint Series race at Zolder. The round will be 2x 20 minute sprint races.

Original Story:

Assetto Corsa Competizione has been out of Early Access for some time now and with the hot fixes that have been deployed by Kunos we are now ready to go for the Blancpain 2019 OZNZ GT3 Championship!

This coming Wednesday we'll kick off our Season with an Enduro Round at Circuit Paul Ricard, so start driving, pick your car and get ready to roll on Wednesday night.

The Practice Server is live. If you would like access, jump on the OZNZ Discord server and request the password.

This past Sunday saw OZNZ Drivers jumping into the Seat Leon TCR and hitting the track at Vallelunga on the extended circuit.

The fast first and second sectors of the track proved a challenge for drivers as they fought to find the grip and perfect braking points whilst not losing to much speed costing the time and position on track, while the tight confines of the final sector provided an entirely different challenge as drivers had to find the right balance of throttle to avoid the front wheel drive Seat under-steering under acceleration.

The pace of the cars meant that the pack stayed quite close for the duration of both race 1 and race 2 and the reverse grid start in race 2 added an extra challenge as drivers battled up and down the pack.

A single yellow flag slowed progress in race 1, but once the track was Green the battle resumed.

With 7 more rounds and 14 more races scheduled for the series we are expecting the racing to only get more intense as drivers find their feet and get used to the car.

Assetto Corsa Competizione left Early Access last week with a more complete feature set for multiplayer and dedicated servers.

The scheduled round on the 5th of June will be our final Pre-season event before we kick into the OZNZ Assetto Corsa Competizione GT3 Championship starting on the 3rd of July at Zandvoort.

The original plan for the series was for the OZNZ events to take place on the Wednesday night following the real life Blancpain race weekend, running our condensed format of Sprint of Enduro races on the same track used the previous weekend.

As we were unable to jump in and start the series Officially on the 17th of April, we will now be running an adjusted schedule of events for the rest of the year.

We will still proceed with following the final 5 rounds of the Blancpain GT series and we have re-scheduled the 5 rounds that were missed.

The event details will be updated on the website and calendar in the next few days.
